چکیده

(Fig 2a) or by MSP-PCR (Fig 2b). Our results suggest little or no involvement of genetic or epigenetic alterations of CDKN2A in nevus etiology, and thus support the data of others who have failed to detect CDKN2A mutation (Healy et al, 1996b) or methylation (Gonzalgo et al, 1997) in various types of nevi; however, our ®ndings do not rule out mutations in noncoding regions nor factors other than methylation affecting expression of this gene. Alternatively, variations in noncoding regions of CDKN2A or in a gene adjacent to CDKN2A may account for the variance in nevus count we have shown to be linked to this region (Zhu et al, 1999).

Variations of the Normal Human Limbal Stem Cells Detected by In Vivo Confocal Microscopy

Background  To report normal variations of the limbal structures using in vivo laser scanning confocal microscopy. Methods: This was a retrospective study of fourteen eyes from 11 healthy individuals. Confocal imaging of cornea and limbus was performed using Heidelberg Retina Tomograph III Rostock Corneal Module. Results: The typical structure of the palisades of Vogt (POV) was detected ...

Confocal reflectance microscopy in dermatology: promise and reality of non-invasive diagnosis and monitoring.

In vivo reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM) constitutes a novel non-invasive imaging method that enables visualization of cells and structures in living skin in real time with resolution close to histological analysis. RCM has been successfully implemented in the assessment of benign and malignant lesions. It also enables monitoring dynamic changes in the skin over time and in response to dif...

Real-Time Investigation of Skin Blood Flow Changes Induced by Topical Capsaicin.

Capsaicin induces a localized inflammatory process known as neurogenic inflammation upon its topical administration on the skin, due to the release of various neuropeptides from the cutaneous sensory nerve endings. In this study, we investigated real-time skin blood flow changes that occur in neurogenic inflammation induced by topical capsaicin by means of in vivo reflectance confocal microscop...

Combining in vivo reflectance with fluorescence confocal microscopy provides additive information on skin morphology

BACKGROUND Within the last decade, confocal microscopy has become a valuable non-invasive diagnostic tool in imaging human skin in vivo. Of the two different methods that exist, reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM) displays the backscattering signal of naturally occurring skin components, whereas fluorescence confocal microscopy (FCM) provides contrast by using an exogenously applied fluoresce...

Confocal histopathology of irritant contact dermatitis in vivo and the impact of skin color (black vs white).

BACKGROUND The pathogenesis of irritant contact dermatitis and its modulation according to skin color is not well understood. Reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM) enables high-resolution, real-time, in-vivo imaging of human skin. OBJECTIVE The goal of our study was to use RCM to determine whether susceptibility to irritant contact dermatitis differs between black and white skin. METHODS Pa...
